At the moment it doesn't. Legal aid was cut back sharply in 2013, and for most everyday disputes it simply isn't there any more. That has left hundreds of thousands of people a year going through courts and tribunals with no representation at all — not because they chose to, but because the option was removed. We believe there should be a better way.
Luckily, there's also been a revolution going on elsewhere. We've harnessed the power of AI to create something we're calling citizentech. Using technology for good. Making previously closed doors open for you.
If you've been on the end of an injustice, can't find or afford a solicitor and have nowhere else to turn, we're here for you.

It doesn't generate facts, invent authorities, or fill gaps with plausible-sounding text — and where your documents don't support a point strongly, it says so rather than overstating it. Yes. The standard version of Equalaizr will always be free. During the beta everything is free, including the enhanced features, with fair-use limits. Anything that may become paid later is labelled “Included free during beta” so nothing is a surprise. There's no card needed to join the waitlist or to use it.
Do I need a solicitor to use Equalaizr?
No. Equalaizr is built for people who don't have one. You don't need legal training, and you don't need to know any legal terms to use it — you upload the documents you already have, and everything it gives you back is in plain English.
What kind of cases can Equalaizr help with?
During the beta we're taking on employment issues first — dismissal, disciplinaries, grievances, pay and treatment at work. Consumer credit, housing and benefits cases are next. We're widening slowly so we get each one right rather than doing all of them badly.
Does Equalaizr give legal advice?
No, and it will tell you so plainly. Equalaizr is a software platform, not a law firm, and PentrAIntelligence Ltd is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. It organises and evaluates your documents and sets out your options. When a step is one you should take professional advice on, it says so.
What happens to my documents?
Your files are only ever used to build your case file — nothing else. They aren't sold, and they aren't used to advertise to you. You can delete your case and its documents at any time.
How does Equalaizr know what my documents say?
It reads them. Every page is read, dated, labelled and put in order, and every fact it draws out is linked back to the document, page and passage it came from. If something can't be traced to a source, it doesn't go in your file at all.
What if it gets something wrong?
You correct it. Equalaizr proposes, you decide — nothing becomes part of your case without your confirmation, and you can change or remove anything at any time. Facts are also graded verified, inferred or unverified, so you can always see how strongly your documents actually support a point.
How long does it take?
Uploading takes as long as it takes you to scan your documents. After that, Equalaizr works through them in minutes rather than evenings. The part that takes you time is checking what it found, and it tells you how long that's likely to be before you start.
What file types can I upload?
PDFs, Word documents, photos of letters, screenshots and emails all work. The order doesn't matter — organising them is our job, not yours.
How do I get on the beta?
